Journaling is such a useful tool aiding in growth. Simply writing down what happened and how it made you feel can do so much in making you feel better about the situation. Journaling is a wonderful release that allows us to re-visit where we once were and see how far we’ve come. Journaling is personal and each person’s experience with journaling may be very different. It is an independent activity that is commonly favored due to anyone of any age being able to enjoy it for any reason. As long as you can read and write, you can journal. Journaling allows for maximum customization as you can choose the journal notebook that suits you best and use it for your intended purpose. The reward of journaling is the luxury of being able to transport yourself to any point of your life thats been recorded and re-read your experience from your own perspective.

As someone who has been journaling almost every day for years, I can definitely say it helps calm me at times. That’s why for years it has been my dream to release a ‘book’ and I originally thought it would be a written book, turns out my first publication is right on brand. I am proud to announce Sugar Tarot’s official first spiritual journal collection. Each notebook for sale was curated and designed by me personally. There are 3 journal notebooks available currently on the Sugar Shop and Etsy shop. In the spirit of intention, each journal has an intended purpose. The Dream Journal was the first out of the collection to be designed based off Sugar Tarot’s Dream Analysis Reading service and it’s purpose is to record dreams and other important channeled messages. If you’re someone who struggles to remember their dreams you would find it resourceful to be able to look back at your past dreams and establish life changing patterns. The Manifestation Journal which is made to be utilized in conjunction with the updated Manifestation Guide, is for writing down all your dreams, goals, and manifestations. If you’re ready to reach milestones and set some serious plans for 2023 to enable your success, the manifestation journal is what you need in your life. If you have 3H, Mercury, Gemini, or Virgo placements, aspects, or degrees I highly recommend this journal notebook. If you’re unfamiliar or new to astrology that would be Gemini sun, Virgo sun, 3H Sun, 3H Mercury, strong Mercury aspects, or 3°, 6°, 15°, 18°, 27°. You will find that you’re able to attract your desires to your sooner by writing them out. Like prayer, your entries are your messages to the Universe and the higher power you believe in. The Gratitude Journal is personally my favorite due to how I designed it and this being the same kind of journal in my own personal collection I constantly find myself reaching for. It’s easy to run to our journals to pour our hearts out about how sad, happy, heartbroken we may be and discuss what’s happening from an emotional standpoint. You should absolutely want to capture those big or unforgettable life moments so you never forget, but having a journal with the specific intention to just give thanks and appreciate our life for what it is now in the present moment is a game changer. If you’re someone who considers yourself religious or spiritual and want to get closer to a higher source of energy, counting your blessings and writing them down is the way to do it. The Manifestation Journal also has the easiest set up. Just write the date, start off the first line with, “I’m grateful for..”, take it down to the next line and begin to write all the ways in which you are thankful. At the bottom of the Sugar Shop page, you’ll find additional tools such as colorful pens, markers, and gel pens to aid in your journaling.

The beauty in journaling is it can be exactly what you want it to be. Journaling is supportive in that you create a safe space that’s all yours and for you. If you want to build a habit of supporting yourself or reassuring yourself, journaling is a great way to start that. I recommend focusing on the quality of your journal sessions over the frequency. Journaling is unique because its a preference. You may find that your emotional needs are best met when you journal at a pace that’s for you. Whether you find that to be everyday, every other week, month, or year. Always do what is ideal for you. Consistent is whatever you make it in this context. I promise however you curate your journal routine and maintain, you’ll start to see some changes. But first, let’s begin with why journaling is even helpful to do.

Writing in a private journal allows us to..

  1. Regulate Our Own Emotions and Mood.

It’s essentially no one else’s responsibility to make sure you’re feeling okay, but you. It’s up to you as an adult to manage your emotions and mood to behave in a way that doesn’t cause harm to others or yourself. It’s healthy emotional regulation to write your feelings in a journal as a way of acknowledging them and validating yourself. Journaling when you’re in the heat of the moment allows to take a pause and reset before you say or do anything you’d regret or later consider a mistake. Once you say something in anger to someone, the damage is done it doesn’t matter if you apologize later, you can never truly “take it back”. You never know, you might read the same journal entry you wrote realizing in hindsight it wasn’t worth it and you’ll be glad you didn’t escalate the situation.

  2. Reflect In Hindsight.

Hindsight will always be 20/20. Writing about a situation that has already happened, allows you to process your feelings about it, release it, and move on. It’s a heart warming feeling to re-live a happy moment through reflection. Journal entries are time indicators just like music. Re-reading what you wrote is sure to bring you right back to when you wrote it each time. It’s like reading a book by you, about you. Writing truthfully from your own perspective in your journal is practicing great spiritual hygiene. Using a journal as a tool for reflection is powerful in that you’ll be able to identify and correct your own behaviors in order to heal. As conscious adults, we should be hold ourselves accountable whether we express it initially or not. We should know when we’ve messed up or didn’t handle a situation appropriately. The goal in writing in your journal is to make it easier to hold yourself accountable so you can release this behavior and improve. Just knowing how you were wrong or could’ve done better This is very cooperative if you’re someone into astrology as well. You can easily note what astrological transit such as a new or full moon was occurring when something happened for your own recollection later.

  3. Re-evaluate Our Lives.

Get your life! Make as many changes to your life plan as you see fit. It’s completely normal to change your mind. It’s also a shared human experience to at times question your own thinking, feelings, or behavior. This can happen during times of confusion or struggles with self confidence. No one can make you feel bad about things they don’t know. It’s best to write these thoughts when they come to mind rather than say them to others because they tend to be short lived. Word of advice: If it’s something you’d rather not be brought up ever again, write it in your journal as opposed to saying it out loud. Your journal is meant to be private and your safe space where you’re free to expose yourself in your rawest form. Say how you feel, don’t write as if someone will read it. If someone has ever violated your privacy and read your journals/diaries this may affect your vulnerability when writing. It’s best to seek a mental health professional so they can support you in becoming comfortable to write more freely.

  4. Refresh Our Minds.

Journaling can not only assist in regulating your mood, it can clear your mind allowing you to focus on important matters and be more present. Journaling is a form of self care and if elevation is your goal for 2023, it’s definitely something you should be doing more often. You can choose to write in many different journals where each one has their own purpose or stick to writing in one. Find a journal that suits your personality and style. Write color coded or all in the same shade. However you choose, write with intention. Re-reading old journal entries is a great habit to refresh your memory and can actually give you inspiration that can be expanded on in the present. You can get ideas and be reminded of what you’ve always wanted to do, but never got the chance. Journaling is timeless and there is no correct timeline. I do recommend starting new journals when you experience a big life change or milestone. Examples of this could be moving, re-location, starting a new job, school, business, relationship, family, or home.
