Planetary Days/Hours
It’s common knowledge that astrological events can influence behavior. Think about how Mercury Retrograde has the ability to have people in a frenzy for 3 weeks straight multiple times a year, every single time. No matter how many articles written on it debunking myths or explaining what it is, people still lose their minds. That being said, it’s not far off that people do sometimes use astrology to plan their lives or certain events at least. You can make a chart for basically anything not just people including items, places, events, relationships, etc. Instead of creating a new chart and having it read every single time, what if there was a simpler way to utilize the stars in real time??? That is what planetary days and hours are all about.
In astrology, there are planets, asteroids, and other celestial bodies. The 7 personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) are shown in birth/natal charts. When studying your natal chart it is cool to look up the time you were born and learn which planet influenced the hour you were born. It may or may not also have some correlation to your parent’s sign or placement in their chart. I was born on Venus day during Mars hour to an Aries mother (ruled by Mars). Just like how each zodiac sign has its own season to represent the sun transiting over that sign, did you know each hour of the day and each day of the week is associated with 1 of 7 personal planets. As time goes on, the planetary hours change planets and everyday is associated with a different planet and therefore zodiac sign.
Planetary hours are useful for maximizing our time. Learning planetary days and hours can help you align your intentions with the energy of that specific planet as opposed to waiting for the zodiac season that planet is associated with. Certain activities you’ll find go smoother on certain days and vice versa you might wanna avoid doing stuff on specific days. I recommend downloading the app “Time Nomad” . It allows you to install a widget on your device that shows you the planetary hour and day. That app is also great for keeping up with your personal transits in your natal chart & astrological events as it provides a daily summary. Don’t forget to look up which day of the week you were born if you don’t already know and find out which planet influences your birthday. I’m a Libra sun so I’m already ruled by Venus, but also being born on a Friday (Venus day) amplifies her influence over my chart and reflects in my appearance, personality, and passions.
Pro tip: Venus hour and Fridays are best for taking selfies or any form or photography. If you record/film content, Fridays should be on your schedule specifically for that purpose.
Planetary Days of the Week
Monday- Moon day (associated with the zodiac sign Cancer)
Tuesday- Mars day (associated with zodiac signs Scorpio and Aries)
Wednesday- Mercury day (associated with zodiac signs Gemini and Virgo)
Thursday- Jupiter day (associated with zodiac signs Pisces and Sagittarius)
Friday- Venus day (associated with zodiac signs Taurus and Libra)
Saturday- Saturn day (associated with zodiac signs Capricorn and Aquarius)
Sunday- Sun day (associated with zodiac sign Leo)
Note: Cancer and Leo are the only zodiac signs not sharing their planetary day with another sign because both the Sun and Moon rule one sign each.
Although Venus day is the best day of the week, I like to refer to Jupiter day as "your lucky day" because it is. That day tends to be the day for blessings. Moon day is best for self care and any emotional work (shadow, inner child). Mars day is best for physical activity like working out or being intimate. Mars day is not a good day to do surgery or anything invasive to the body as it also rules blood and death. Mercury day is excellent for learning, cleaning, or connecting with others. Venus day is great for creating all forms of art, beauty routines, and social gatherings. That's why Friday is naturally a sociable, high energy day to start the weekend. Photography, music, dance, writing, drawing, painting, singing, etc. Makeup, hair, wax, eyelash, etc. self care/maintenance type of appointments usually go well this day. Despite it being on the weekend, Saturn day is actually the best day to get work done as you’re more likely to commit to it. Sun day is great for resetting, relaxing, and reflecting before you begin the next week. Creation and connecting with children also go well on Sundays.
Planetary Hours
The planetary hours differ by the hour and exact location. The hours are split into 2 parts of the day from sunrise until sunset. In order to look up the planetary hours for your specific location and date, use Planetary Hours Calculator. Each planet has its own hour referred to as “Hour of (planet name)”. Depending on the energy of that planet certain activities or behaviors may or may not go well or be beneficial.
During each hour, activities related to that planet should go well for example anything related to romance should go well during Venus hour, kissing, hugging, flirting, or even being intimate. Business transactions should go well during the hour of the Sun and Mercury.
During malefic planet hours such as Mars or Saturn, things can go terribly wrong, or get delayed so use caution during those times. Mars rules blood, violence, and accidents so if driving or doing something particularly dangerous like using a knife while cooking be careful.
One Last thing..
Time is super fluid and because of that, the whole concept of it isn’t really real. It is really fun to use planetary hours/day to include astrology more into your daily life, but theres no requirement to do so. So if you’re just starting out learning astrology, don’t sweat not understanding or following this. Astrology isn’t meant to overwhelm or confuse you, learning it should be fun and if it isn’t to you, that’s okay as well. This blog post like all others was written to inform and to enjoy.
