Vesta: Mother of Healing & Inspiration

Happy New Year! If you haven’t already, click here check out the first asteroid we’ve covered so far. Next up in our series is Vesta. The symbol for Vesta is ⚶.

In addition to the planets in astrology, there are smaller, yet equally impactful celestial bodies we refer to as asteroids. Some common ones you’ve probably already heard of are Juno, Pallas, Chiron, Lilith, and Ceres. Asteroids differ from the planets because they do not have as much influence on our daily lives. For example, there are planetary days and hours however there are no days or hours ruled by asteroids.

Vesta is one of the four goddesses in addition to Juno, Pallas Athena, and Ceres named after Roman goddess of hearth and home. Each goddess channels a different sexual energy. Vesta represents sacredness and inner desires that manifest to spiritual longing. She is very big on rituals and said to represent what we hold sacred, our spiritual ignition, the divine fire burning within our core. For this reason Vesta is said describe the spark in our life making it easy to pull inspiration from her. Vesta reminds us that we are whole and of our power as separate entities outside of everyone else. In our birth chart, this placement often shows up in the areas in our life where we demand total control and our freedom. Some Vesta placements depending on aspects can make someone portray an idealistic persona for example. The sign Vesta is in shows what you tend to guard with your life because you most likely have had to constantly defend it. It can also point towards what you naturally tend to pull inspiration from. The house Vesta is in would show what area in your life you’re having to defend this and against whom you feel the need to “prove” yourself to, to be validated. Vesta being conjunct any personal placements (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) would definitely highlight the energy of that planet in your chart.

Vesta is said to be associated with both zodiac signs Virgo and Scorpio due to her fiery ambitious, yet healing nature. If you’re not familiar with traditional astrology, Scorpio is ruled by Mars, the planet responsible for our motivation. Mars also shows us how we tend to go after what we desire. Based off of their zodiac symbols alone, Virgo and Scorpio have a lot in common. Both symbols are shaped like “M”s with Virgo curving as if cursive and Scorpio’s “M” forming an tail like that of a scorpion, this sign’s representative animal.

Fun Fact: Unlike her sisters Pallas, Ceres, and Juno, Vesta chose to remain unmarried. Many sources say she straight up refused. She was also known as a virgin for most of her life despite being associated with different suitors. Instead she stayed diligently focused on her life’s tasks.

Vesta is the second largest and brightest asteroid of the asteroid belt and was discovered on March 29th, 1807. Vesta was the 4th asteroid to be discovered. First was Ceres, then Pallas Athena, and third Juno. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this asteroid was discovered during Aries season. It’s almost as if Vesta was meant to represent the energy of an Aries woman. To know one is to truly love one and be blessed. Vesta in the birth/natal chart is associated with inspiration, assertion, home, independence, spirituality, inhibitions, sexuality, healing, freedom, rituals, potential, self care, self preservation, and self sufficiency.

Vesta’s energy can be channeled in order to build awareness and become more self sufficient in 2023. Vesta inspires us to focus on our energy on our priorities. To remain pure of intention and mind. It it ultimately our responsibility to be independent and productive. Clarity carries you a long way in terms of sense of direction and receiving guidance. Vesta is a reminder to put yourself first in 2023. The only way to be selfless is to make sure you’re whole first. Otherwise, you will have nothing to give if you’re drained.

Vesta IN ARIES

You may be someone who identifies strongly with your energy and goals. That’s fine, but understand your worth is not defined by ambition or productivity. All movement should be celebrated regardless of your speed. With so many impulsive dreams, you learn at some point not all of these dreams are meant to happen or need to be chased. This placement often has to learn by experience because they cannot be directed or told what to do. You’ll learn that self fulfillment does not require isolation and that you’re allowed to seek inspiration and help from others the same way they obtain it from you. Theres a lot of passion that lies inside and constantly needs to be expressed.

Vesta IN Taurus

You might take some time to develop a strong desire, but once you do, you’re steadfast on your way towards obtaining it. You may find inspiration through what pleases you or brings you comfort and that’s how you start to want more. This placement is the type to create a vision board because often times you need to see the end goal in order to gain direction to approach it. Vesta in Taurus can inspire others by developing a spiritual connection with their physical body through meditation, tantra, reiki, etc.

Vesta IN Gemini

You understand the value of knowledge and because it is sacred to you, you try your best to acquire as much as you can. This placement is the type to enjoy escape rooms, trivia shows, puzzle games, and guessing games. You may have hobbies that keep you intellectually stimulated. You prefer to download apps or games where you have to figure something out or work towards a goal using your brain. Vesta in Gemini inspires others by their passion for learning and way of expression through jokes/storytelling.

Vesta IN Cancer

You’re someone who relies on your emotion and intuition to guide you in life. Never ignore the importance of sentiment in your life. Cherish your memories, they’re your way of seeing how far you’ve come. Feeling your way through life is what keeps your spirit alive and keeps you going. To experience emotion is to be alive. Vesta in Virgo energy can easily manifest as a domicile placement due to the emphasized pure, femininity, service nature. You’re someone that from young age desired to help others find solutions. Described as simply “kind”, you may now resonate with a higher calling. You may have an activity or craft you’ve spent years refining to your standard of perfection. You’re someone who prefers to remain focused on the task at hand up until it meets your standards of perfection. You do a good job of removing the “clutter” in your life when necessary. Vesta in Virgo can be very observant and knows when to work harder or smarter. Vesta in Virgo reminds us to stay true to the task at hand and to not overcomplicate things.

Fun Fact: Vesta is associated with the month of February. This month was said to be a time for purification, cleansing, and prayer between the Gregorian calendar New Year (January 1st) and the astrological New Year. Fire rituals were popular during this time as well. In ancient Rome, the astrological New Year falling on the Spring Equinox was celebrated instead of the modern Gregorian New Year on January 1st. It made sense for Vesta being symbol of the heart, home, and sacred flame to have that month dedicated in her honor.

Vesta IN Libra

You may be someone who finds solace in accountability and making sure things are fair and just. You find a balance between paying attention to your physical appearance and the development of your mind as you deem both keys to being presentable in life. You’re known to handle your affairs and take care of business in the most graceful, pleasing manner. Your standard is equality and you would rather this to be the norm everywhere you’re involved.
